We know this isn't relevant but will show you anyway
I taking an international flight soon.
The airline knows I have a UK passport, knows my home address is in the UK, and knows I have a return journey with the UK as my final destination.
Despite all this, when I log in to their website, there’s a massive warning, taking up most of the screen (until I scroll), about the need for some people to have certain visas to enter the UK.
This doesn’t apply to me. If I was dealing/speaking with a human they’d know not to even need to mention this. At most, at the end, they’d double check if I needed a visa. This wouldn’t be (seemingly) the most important thing.
This doesn’t build confidence that they have my best interests in mind. This feels like a focus on avoiding responsibility over helping.
What are the lessons?
- Ask, “do we need to always show this?”
- Is there a simplified version if we’re not sure?
- Are we being as smart as a human? (Ironically) are there tools that could help us do this?
